Cognitive Hypnotherapy
You may, rightly, expect that I read a lot. It is an important aspect of my profession, which has a balance of intellectual as well as practical development. A term I am considering, as a result of my reading, is Cognitive Hypnotherapy. It is an approach I rather like for it calls upon the Therapist to understand the needs of the client in some detail before proceeding - never a bad thing. It also requires the therapist to construct, in discussion with the client, the content of any hypnotic programme to be used. This has the advantage of removing any doubts the individual may have about the 'hocus pocus' of hypnosis. People do have reservations about the hypnotists activities and anything that allays fears or limiting attitudes is welcomed.
I also like this 'package' of therapy skills because the discussion with the client is consistent with my work as a Life Coach and also as an NLP practitioner. Thus my skills and expertise become like a bag of tools that I can carry into almost any situation. When we understand the condition that may be affecting the individual or group then can we select the right tool for the job. The over all effect is then to speed-up the process whereby the client obtains the results they need. I am in favour of the idea of Brief Therapy and, as you might guess, have added its authorities to my reading list. If you would like to know more do give me a call on 01597 822122.
